Joseph Walter "Joe" Jackson (July 26, 1928 - June 27, 2018) was an African-American talent manager & patriarch. His parents are Crystal Lee King (1907-1992) and Samuel Joe Jackson (1893-1993). He was a schoolteacher . Joe is the oldest of five children. Verna Mae (1930-1937), Lula Mae, born in 1932, Lawrence, born in 1933 and died on January 15, 2017, and Luther, born in 1935. After his parent divorced when he was twelve, he moved with his father to Oakland California and his mother, two brothers, and sister moved to East Chicago, Indiana. He moved in with them when he was eighteen and his father remarried. He married Katherine Scruse-Jackson on November 5,1949.
In January 1950, they purchased a two- bedroom house on 2300 Jackson Street in Gary, Indiana. Their first child Maureen Relliette " Rebbie " Jackson was born on May 29, 1950. They had more children: Sigmund Esco" Jackie (May 4,1951), Toriano Adryall " Tito" (October 15,1953), Jermaine LaJuane (December 11,1954),Latoya Yvonne (May 29,1956), Marlon David March 12, 1957).He had a twin brother named Brandon, but Brandon died hours after their birth. Michael Joseph (August 29,1958), Steven Randall "Randy" (October 29,1961), and Janet Damita Jo( May 16,1966). Joe wanted to continue his dream as a boxer, but became a crane operator to support his family. He and his brothers were a band called "The Falcons". In 1964, Joe formed "The Jackson Brothers ", featuring Jackie, Tito and Jermaine after Tito broke his guitar string and discovered his talent with it. Later when Marlon and Michael joined the band, they changed their names to" The Jackson 5". Joe had a 25 year long affair with a woman named Cheryl Terrel while raising her daughter JohVonnie Jackson, who was born on August 30, 1974.
On June 25, 2009, Joseph was pulled in the in the media spotlight when Michael, The King Of Pop, Dies from a overdose of Propofol Intoxication. While papering for the “This is It” concert on July 13, 2009 - March 6, 2010.
On June 27, 2018, Joseph died after battling cancer in the Nathan Adeleson Hospice in Las Vegas, Nevada. Joe was hospitalized on June 22. Just 2 Days after the 9th Anniversary of Michael’s Death, (June 25).
